Fuel Surcharge Increase (02/02/2006)
British Airways World Cargo today announced an increase to its fuel surcharge. The surcharge will be GBP0.34/kg or local currency equivalent, with effect from 16th February.
The fuel surcharge increase follows a second consecutive week that the fuel index has been above the level 10 threshold. The index was developed by BA World Cargo to provide customers with more information about the calculation of fuel surcharges. It is updated on a weekly basis and posted on the British Airways World Cargo website.
Keith Packer, Senior Vice President Commercial, said: "With the stabilisation of fuel costs in the last quarter we have been able to implement 3 successive surcharge decreases. However in the face of recent rising fuel prices we have no choice other than to raise the surcharge in line with our published index and policy".
