Fuel Surcharge Increase (27/04/2006)
British Airways World Cargo today announced an increase to its fuel surcharge. The surcharge will be GBP 0.37/kg / USD 0.55/kg / EUR 0.55/kg, with effect from 11 May, 2006
The fuel surcharge increase follows a second consecutive week that the fuel index has been above the level 11 threshold. The index was developed by BA World Cargo to provide customers with more information about the calculation of fuel surcharges. It is updated on a weekly basis and posted under surcharges on the British Airways World Cargo website.
Chris Bosworth, General Manager Commercial Development, said: "The market remains under intense pressure from climbing fuel costs, which directly impact the costs of providing airfreight. It is regrettable but necessary for our fuel surcharge to be increased at this time in line with our fuel index."
