Disruption Update (11/08/2006)
British Airways is continuing to build its operation back to normal levels and today expects to depart the vast majority of its flights following yesterday's severe disruption.
Yesterday, the airline operated over 90 per cent of the longhaul operation at London Heathrow and London Gatwick. The shorthaul and domestic programme was severely disrupted but we still managed to operate 10 per cent of the Heathrow programme and just over 80 per cent at London Gatwick.
We anticipate that we will operate all longhaul flights from London Gatwick and all longhaul flights from London Heathrow with the exception of six flights to the US.
The entire shorthaul flying programme from London Gatwick is expected to operate as normal.
Around 70 per cent of shorthaul and domestic services to and from London Heathrow are expected to operate today.
Operational disruption is expected to continue, however, following security restrictions introduced yesterday at all UK airports.
British Airways World Cargo is working hard to recover our customers' freight as quickly as possible. In order to accomplish this, some restrictions have been put in place.
