British Airways World Cargo announces changes to the Cargo Leadership Team (25/03/2002)

Gareth Kirkwood, Managing Director, has announced changes to the Cargo Leadership Team, following the announcement of Future Size and Shape.

These changes will further develop the clearer lines of communication and support quicker and more effective decision-making across the regions, in line with the original objective of July 2001 when a flatter organisational structure was introduced.

"Our priority remains to deliver world-class customer service and the changes to the Cargo Leadership Team reflect our continued commitment to this. I am very proud of the effort made by everyone in British Airways World Cargo in recent months and this Leadership Team will continue to drive the business forward, " said Gareth Kirkwood.

With immediate effect, the Cargo Leadership Team is as follows:

Gareth Kirkwood, Managing Director

Bob Kujala, Senior Vice President Americas Bob Kujala will retain responsibility for all sales and commercial development activity in the Americas region.

Steve Cassidy, Vice President Asia Pacific and Middle East Steve Cassidy retains responsibility for sales and commercial development in the Pacific Region and takes on responsibility for the South Asia and Middle East regions.

Tony Nothman, Vice President Europe and African Continent Tony Nothman will take on responsibility for the European Region and retains responsibility for the African continent.

Bob Kujala, Tony Nothman and Steve Cassidy will assume responsibility for all cargo operations and customer service in their regions and will also manage the relationships with the respective cargo divisions of British Airways World Cargo's oneworld partners located in their regions.

Helen O'Hara, Vice President UK and Ireland Sales (Acting) Helen O'Hara, currently Multinational Sales Manager, will assume responsibility for all sales and commercial activity in the UK and Ireland (including the UK Call Centre); until such time that a replacement for Carina Fleischer is announced (see notes, item 2).

Keith Packer, Senior Vice President Global Sales and Marketing Keith Packer's responsibility for global key accounts, all aspects of global marketing strategy and a new global freighter business team remains unchanged.

Paul Burton, General Manager Customer Service and Operations UK and Ireland Paul Burton will become responsible for all Customer Service and Operations activity in the UK and Ireland, including Ascentis, Airside/Landside Operations and Special Handling at Heathrow, regional operations in the UK and Ireland and operations at Gatwick (see notes, item 4).

Ian Herbert, General Manager Planning and Control Ian Herbert will be responsible for all operational planning activity. This will include ensuring that British Airways World Cargo complies with requirements for network wide safety, security and conformance to JAR-ops; network planning & development (including trucking); the management of industry affairs and all major supplier & third party contracts and all information systems activity.

Kevin Steele, General Manager Revenue Development Kevin will retain his existing responsibilities for Revenue Management and revenue optimisation activity. He will take the lead role in the implementation of E- Business initiatives including GFX and will also manage Cargo Operations in WNS in India.

Paul Treadwell, General Manager People Paul Treadwell will assume responsibility for all aspects of employee relations, human resources and training. Paul has extensive experience in British Airways, most recently as Manager People Organisation Delivery for LHR Customer Services and Operations, and prior to that in Cabin Services and Engineering(see notes, item 3).

Mark Harrison, Financial Controller World Cargo Mark Harrison will continue his role as Financial Controller with responsibility for leading the Finance and Business Support team.

Notes:

1. Mark Gardiner, previously Regional vice President Europe, becomes Manager Ascentis reporting to Paul Burton. Mark will assume responsibility for Ascentis, a key operational role within British Airways World Cargo.

2. Carina Fleischer, previously Vice President Sales UK and Ireland Region, has taken a personal decision to return to Germany, where she will continue to work with British Airways on passenger business.

3. Mike Porteous, previously General Manager People, will be moving on to a new position responsible for International HR within British Airways.

4. Pat Pearse, formerly General Manager Customer Service and Operations has decided to pursue a new challenge and leave British Airways World Cargo. However, he will remain with the business to support his successor, Paul Burton in the transition period.
