New Products and a New Approach (02/07/2002)
British Airways World Cargo today announced the launch of a new global product range, signalling the carrier's re-entry into the loose segment of the market.
Commenting on the launch, Managing Director Gareth Kirkwood said: "We have carefully timed the introduction of our new products, recognising the importance of first delivering a strong loose proposition."
The new products are:
- PERFORM: Loose and Unitised
- EXPRESS: Fast priority service
- SPECIALIST: Range of niche products requiring high priority
The product range allows British Airways World Cargo to offer customers flight specific reliability, transparent product criteria and clear communication, all supported by a unique recovery promise.
Mr Kirkwood said British Airways World Cargo was now seeing the benefits of the £350m global change management programme that had overhauled every part of the carrier's worldwide business.
He revealed that as part of this programme, British Airways World Cargo had set up Customer Listening Forums at every major hub globally to talk to customers about their needs in order to get their product offer right and pledged that this would continue as the product range developed.
Mr Keith Packer, Senior Vice President Global Sales and Marketing, said the heart of British Airways World Cargo's confidence in delivering the new product offer was the consistently high performance levels it was now achieving through Ascentis, the carrier's state-of-the-art cargo handling facility at Heathrow.
He said: "We're offering these new products with completely transparent criteria because we know we can deliver the world class performance on our products."
He added: "We've spent two years planning this launch and were determined not to launch the products until we could meet the performance levels - especially for loose - that we demand of ourselves."
British Airways World Cargo also announced today a new customer first philosophy: Cargo made simple. This reflects British Airways World Cargo's ongoing commitment to providing customers with straightforward freighting solutions and products that are clear, simple and easy to use and which work with the carrier's extensive line-haul and freighter network.
Speaking of the new philosophy, Mr Kirkwood added "We intend to make cargo simple. We want to make it easy for our customers to do business with us. The combination of our network, the quality of our operational delivery and the launch of our new products place us in an extremely strong position in the marketplace."
