British Airways World Cargo Ramps Up GF-X Expansion Plans (12/09/2002)

British Airways World Cargo today announced a dramatic expansion of their GF-X service, which now covers 85 origin points in 11 countries, worldwide.

The carrier is currently operational across every country where GF-X is available.

As part of this expansion programme, British Airways World Cargo has bought online all UK origin points (41 stations), where previously it had only been live at Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester and Glasgow.

In addition, British Airways World Cargo has also opened all stations in Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Japan and Singapore plus all routes from New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, Washington, Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego in the United States.

British Airways World Cargo's ramp-up policy has been to open every on-line point within a country, regardless of where GF-X have forwarders actively making bookings through the exchange at that time.

Caroline Barr, Manager Global Marketing, British Airways World Cargo, said: "We are delighted to be able to offer our customers a service whereby we are able to accept bookings via GF-X across a whole country, not just at certain stations. We are fully committed to GF-X and our recent expansion coincides with our introduction of 'Perform eOffer'."

Perform eOffer is a special online pricing offer that becomes available in the last three days before departure and can only be accessed by GF-X customers.

This pricing offer is currently available from Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester and Glasgow, although British Airways World Cargo is planning to introduce eOffers to other countries worldwide, in the near future.

"With more service developments planned for later this year, including the introduction of our Express product for electronic bookings, we are confident that even more customers will support the GF-X system," Barr concluded.

By the end of 2002, British Airways World Cargo hopes to have added a further six countries to the GF-X system.
