World Cargo launches new website (27/11/2000)

British Airways World Cargo has officially launched its new website, giving customers instant access to information on the latest operational schedules, aircraft cargo configurations plus the ability to print bar code labels and track shipments on-line.

The new site - www.baworldcargo.com - is faster and easier to navigate than World Cargo's previous internet pages.

Jacek Lechocki, E-Business Manager Services at British Airways World Cargo, said: " We've given the site a whole new look based upon the information our customers need about World Cargo. New functionality includes the ability to browse our 14-day operational schedule on-line and download longer term flight schedules.

Already just over 50 per cent of all shipments carried by the airline are tracked via our original website. We have been able to further enhance and speed up this process for customers by routing all enquiries via World Cargo's new e-business platform directly into our operational system."

He added: " The platform technology behind the website will allow World Cargo to add further e-business functionality in the coming months."

Other information available on the site includes an outline of the benefits of working electronically with British Airways World Cargo as well as latest news developments. The next issue of World Cargo News, the airline's customer magazine, will also be available on-line.

Customers can use the site to find out more about British Airways World Cargo's services - including updates on perishables, freighter routes, express deliveries and personal effects movements. There is also a feedback page for customers to give their views on the site and put forward ideas for further enhancements.

For the first time, the site also offers screensaver/wallpapers for customers to download onto their own computers.
