Fuel Surcharge increases to GBP 0.23kg or local currency equivalent (14/10/2004)
British Airways World Cargo today announced that it has increased its fuel surcharge to GBP 0.23/kg or local currency equivalent, effective from 28th October 2004.
The increase to the fuel surcharge has been caused by the continued rise in fuel prices, causing the fuel index to exceed the level 7 threshold for two consecutive weeks.
Keith Packer, Senior Vice President Commercial, said: "Fuel prices are continuing to climb and have now exceeded the already unprecedented levels seen in recent months. The cost to our business continues to grow and whilst we are absorbing significant costs relating to the increase in the price of fuel, the surcharge increase is unavoidable. We are continuing to work closely with our customers during what is undoubtedly a difficult time for our industry."
