Postponement of House Air Waybill data submission charges for India (Delhi) (07/07/2006)

Following the announcement from Indian Customs to delay its mandatory requirement to file import manifests prior to aircraft arrival, until 1 August 2006, British Airways World Cargo will postpone its introduction of the house air waybill data submission charges for Delhi-bound shipments until the requirement becomes mandatory.

Further updates will be communicated as they become available.

Customers who intend to report house air waybill (HAWB) data directly to Indian Customs should continue to:

• notify BA World Cargo in writing of their intention to do so
• provide the 16-digit Customs reference number on every AWB document and in any FWB message

Customers with consolidated consignments who cannot report house air waybill data directly to Indian Customs, should continue either to:

• transmit master air waybill (MAWB) and HAWB data to BA World Cargo using electronic data exchange (EDI) using the FHL message format and the carrier will report the data on its customers' behalf or
• BA World Cargo will enter the information into its own system for onward transmission.

In this case, customers are asked to:

• insert copies of all HAWBs into an envelope clearly marked 'BAWC HAWB copies' and attach the envelope to the MAWB
• put a HAWB manifest into an envelope clearly market 'BAWC HAWB data' and attach the envelope to the MAWB so that it can be easily removed.

The manifest MUST contain the following information: HAWB number, number of pieces, weight, description of the goods, shipper name and consignee name and address
