At the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA) awards held in Toronto on 21 April 2005 BA World Cargo was named Carrier of the Year for demonstrating the highest degree of professionalism, partnering and commitment to the industry. BA World Cargo also won Carrier of Choice to the Middle East and Carrier of Choice to Africa.
Gareth Kirkwood, Managing Director, BA World Cargo said: "Claiming these two prestigious titles is a fantastic accolade for everyone who has worked tirelessly to make BA World Cargo a world-class carrier. I'd like to thank our teams throughout the network for their hard work and commitment.
"The last year has been a critical year for us. We have continued our efforts to develop a truly global network, with the successful introduction of the first direct freighter service between the UK and Shanghai in September 2004. We have also been focusing on getting our products right, and just last month launched our new global perishables product, 'Constant Fresh'. This is a great start to 2005, a year in which we will be strengthening our position as a leading player in the industry."
The Cargo Airline of the Year awards are organized by Air Cargo News which has a readership of over 100,000 in 170 countries. The CIFFA awards recognize the contribution and commitment of carriers as voted for by the CIFFA membership.
